(the 2024 event is the week BEFORE Dickensian day)
Canal boat flotilla though the village centre (canal...) by Lymm Cruising Club members, expect boats decorated with Christmas lights and an appearance by Santa. This is a really lovely display - the photos below do not do this justice.
The 2021 & 2023 flotillas had a live outside broadcast by Lymm Radio which worked really well. The 2022 flotilla was cancelled at short notice due to a poor weather forecast (very cold and very wet / icy)
The village centre and canal side will be busy, please walk in if you can / park responsibly and expect the village centre car parks to fill up.
This is a free event kindly put on by members of the Lymm Cruising Club. Timings are ALWAYS vague - arranging the turning around of this number of boats, in winter and in the dark must be something of a challenge (but thanks!)
Timing
The parade typically sets off from the turning area at Ridgeway Grundy park, through the village centre to end at Lymm cruising club - 2024 likely starting from Ridgeway Grundy at approx 16:00 to 16:15 hrs and in the village centre a few minutes later - but could be earlier or later.
The parade lasts for between 15 and 25 minutes (though with some waiting around beforehand).
Please support village centre businesses by warming up before or after, or grabbing a hot drink if you can. There are likely to be collections for charities supported by Lymm Cruising Club (bring cash!)
